Do not confuse the 2026 UK launch with the U.S. menu. McDonald’s officially launched a limited-time Secret Menu in the UK and Ireland on January 5, 2026. The announcement covered that region, not U.S. restaurants. McDonald’s has not published a U.S. end date because there is no matching 2026 U.S. launch to end.
What is McDonald’s Secret Menu in the USA?
In the United States, the phrase usually describes one of four things: a fan mashup, a supported customization, an expired promotional item or a regular product that receives little advertising. Those categories are not interchangeable.
The current official U.S. McDonald’s menu has no separate Secret Menu category. McDonald’s does encourage ordinary sandwich customization, but that does not require every restaurant to make every social-media recipe.

Did McDonald’s ever release an official secret menu?
Yes, but the dates and countries matter. McDonald’s USA temporarily recognized four “Menu Hacks” beginning January 31, 2022. Customers could order the named combinations and received the normal products needed to assemble them by hand.
McDonald’s UK and Ireland later used the actual “Secret Menu” name for a separate limited-time release beginning January 5, 2026. That lineup included regional products such as the Chicken Cheeseburger, Chicken Big Mac, Espresso Milkshake and Apple Pie Mini McFlurry. It was not a U.S. rollout.
Which McDonald’s secret menu item should you choose?
Start with the experience you want, not the longest viral list. The best choice uses items your selected restaurant already sells and needs little or no unsupported customization.
Hash Brown McMuffin
Buy a Sausage McMuffin with Egg and one Hash Brown. Add the potato patty yourself. The catch is breakfast-only availability.
McChicken + McDouble stack
Both are standard current products at participating restaurants. Buy them separately, then combine the chicken and beef layers as you prefer.
Crunchy Double
Order a Double Cheeseburger, six Chicken McNuggets and Tangy Barbeque Sauce. This has official U.S. promotional history.
Surf + Turf
Buy a Double Cheeseburger and Filet-O-Fish. It is easier to order than it is to eat neatly.

It depends on breakfast and lunch items being sold together. McDonald’s says lunch generally starts when breakfast changes over, so a national overlap is not promised.

McDonald’s announced these fan creations on January 26, 2022, for a limited-time launch beginning January 31. The company told customers to assemble the food themselves. That history does not make the old name a current 2026 app button.

Build: add the nuggets to the burger and use the sauce as desired.
Nutrition caution: an archived official page lists 750 calories for the promotional build. Do not treat that historical figure as a current custom-order guarantee because component formulations and portions can change.

Historical channel detail: McDonald’s advertised this one through the app and McDelivery during the 2022 campaign. Today, simply buy the available standard items through a channel your store offers.

How do you make a McChicken and McDouble stack?
This fan build is often called the “McGangBang,” “McNasty” or other regional nicknames. The reliable order is simply one McChicken and one McDouble. Open the McDouble and place the McChicken patty, or the part you want, between the beef layers.
Do not use the viral nickname at the counter. Some names are vulgar, and the employee may use a different regional recipe. Ordering the two products avoids both problems.
Current full-component calculation: McChicken 390 + McDouble 390 = 780 calories before anything is removed.
What is a Poor Man’s Big Mac?
It is usually a McDouble modified to resemble a Big Mac: no ketchup or mustard, then add shredded lettuce and Big Mac Sauce when those options are available. Recipes online differ, and the sandwich still lacks the Big Mac’s middle bun.
Open the McDouble customization screen first. If lettuce or Big Mac Sauce is absent, do not assume the kitchen will add it. Compare the completed custom price with the local Big Mac price; the cheaper-sounding hack may stop being cheaper after add-on charges.
Say: “Can I order a McDouble without ketchup and mustard, with lettuce and Big Mac Sauce if those add-ons are available? What would the extra charge be?”
How do you order a grilled cheese at McDonald’s?
Ask whether the restaurant can prepare a cheeseburger bun with cheese but no beef patty. This is not a standard nationwide item, and removing meat may not reduce the price.
Do not present it as a guaranteed vegetarian meal. McDonald’s USA says it does not promote U.S. menu items as vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free, and shared preparation areas can create cross-contact.
What are the Monster Mac and McKinley Mac?
These are unofficial names with inconsistent recipes. “Monster Mac” commonly means a Big Mac with many extra regular beef patties. “McKinley Mac” commonly means a Big Mac-style build using larger Quarter Pounder patties.
Neither name guarantees a supported modification. Extra patties may be missing from the app, and a restaurant may not move a Quarter Pounder patty into a Big Mac build. If the exact change is unavailable, choose a listed larger burger or buy separate products.
Can you get a Chicken Big Mac in the USA?
No current nationwide U.S. Chicken Big Mac appears on the official menu checked for this guide. The Chicken Big Mac was part of the 2026 UK and Ireland Secret Menu, which is why U.S. search results can look misleading.
A U.S. customer can attempt a DIY version by buying Big Mac and McChicken components, but it is not the same standardized product. Do not use UK ingredients, calories, prices or availability as U.S. facts.
Can you get fries with Big Mac Sauce?
Only if the selected restaurant currently offers Big Mac Sauce as a side or supported add-on. Do not assume it is free. Check the app or ask for the price before paying.
McDonald’s included a packaged Big Mac Sauce with its limited 2026 FIFA World Cup Meal, but that temporary promotion does not establish permanent nationwide sauce-cup availability.
McDonald’s secret breakfast menu: what still works?
Hash Brown McMuffin
This is the strongest breakfast hack because McDonald’s officially promoted it in 2022 and both components remain recognizable breakfast products. McDonald’s also confirms that Hash Browns are served only while breakfast items are being sold.
Check your exact restaurant’s hours before leaving. McDonald’s says local lunch menus and times vary, with lunch generally beginning when breakfast changes over.
Chicken McGriddles is now a regular menu item
You do not need a secret order for this one. The current official U.S. Chicken McGriddles contains a McChicken patty between McGriddles cakes and lists 380 calories. Order the official product when it appears at your restaurant.
This is a good example of why old secret-menu lists become inaccurate: a former workaround can become an ordinary named item.
What is Mc10:35, and can you still order it?
Mc10:35 is an old fan concept that combines breakfast and lunch components, often an Egg McMuffin with McDouble patties. The name assumes both dayparts overlap around 10:35 a.m.
McDonald’s does not promise that overlap nationwide. If breakfast disappears when lunch begins, the build is impossible through the normal menu. Do not pressure employees to use items that are no longer active or prepared for that daypart.

Dessert and drink hacks: current alternatives and limits
Apple Pie McFlurry
In the U.S., treat this as a DIY combination. Order the Apple Pie and an available McFlurry separately. Let the pie cool enough to handle, break it into small pieces and mix only what you want.
Check which pie your store sells. On the review date, McDonald’s had a limited-time U.S. Fried Apple Pie page listing 220 calories, while its Baked Apple Pie page listed 230 calories. A regular OREO McFlurry lists 410 calories.

- Calculated baked-pie combination: 230 + 410 = 640 calories.
These totals count both complete products. They are not official nutrition entries for a named Apple Pie McFlurry. Availability and McFlurry size can change the total.
Pie à la mode
Buy an available Apple Pie and a Hot Fudge or Hot Caramel Sundae, then combine them yourself. McDonald’s own Baked Apple Pie page suggests pairing the pie with a Hot Caramel Sundae, so the flavor idea is not hidden even though the combination is not one standard product.
McAffogato
A traditional affogato is espresso poured over gelato. The McDonald’s fan version uses an espresso shot and vanilla soft serve. It works only when the restaurant sells both components separately and can provide soft serve in a suitable cup.
Ask for the components, not “McAffogato.” If a standalone espresso shot or plain soft-serve cup is not available, choose a listed coffee or dessert instead.
Neapolitan Shake
This unofficial request mixes chocolate, vanilla and strawberry shake flavors. It has no guaranteed national button, and many app menus do not allow three-way flavor mixing.
Ask at the counter only when all three flavors are listed and the restaurant is not busy. If the crew declines, do not order three full shakes unless you genuinely want and can use them; that turns a simple experiment into an expensive, wasteful order.
Orange Dreamsicle: choose the official Orange Dream instead
Old lists tell customers to combine Hi-C Orange Lavaburst with vanilla soft serve. In 2026, McDonald’s has a current official Orange Dream made with Hi-C Orange Lavaburst, vanilla flavor and cold foam.
The medium official drink lists 320 calories and is caffeine-free and non-carbonated. If your store lists it, ordering the standardized drink is simpler than asking for the older DIY “Orange Dreamsicle” hack.
Cotton Candy Sprite
This community recipe asks for Sprite with vanilla syrup, often described online as two or three pumps. McDonald’s has not published it as a standard U.S. product, so the exact recipe, pump count, nutrition and availability are unconfirmed.
Ask whether vanilla can be added to Sprite and accept the answer. The syrup may not appear as a soda customization even when the restaurant uses vanilla in another beverage.
How much do McDonald’s secret menu items cost?
There is no accurate nationwide price. For a DIY hack, the correct food subtotal is the sum of the normal products at one selected restaurant, using one order channel, at one time.
Local price formula: component 1 + component 2 + component 3 + supported add-ons − applied public deal = food subtotal before tax.
Keep delivery menu premiums, service fees, small-order fees, tax and tip separate. McDonald’s states that delivery item prices may be higher than restaurant prices and that delivery fees vary.

How to record a price that readers can trust
Use a label such as: “Dallas, Texas · pickup · before tax · checked August 13, 2026.” Save the app screenshot or receipt. If you cannot identify the restaurant, channel and date, do not publish the number as a current price.
Secret menu calories, ingredients and allergen limits
McDonald’s does not publish a current nutrition panel for most fan builds. The most transparent approach is to add the standard calories of every complete product, then explain that discarded buns, partial sauces and custom portions change the amount eaten.
